Upcoming Tying Classes @ TCO State College

Looking to get started in fly tying or hoping to improve in a specific set of patterns? Check out some of the classes we have at TCO State College in February and March. Details and links to register are below.

February 1st, 10-2pm – Introduction to Fly Tying with Gavin Robinson. Gavin is one of the TCO guides and instructors, and is incredibly helpful in getting people started with what they need to know for fly tying. Registration is $75, all materials are provided. Limited to 6 participants.

February 26, 6:30-8:30pm – Caddis Life Cycle Brew ‘n’ Bugs at Boal City Brewing. We’re bringing Brew ‘n’ Bugs back, this time at Boal City Brewing in Boalsburg! I’ll be leading the tying for the evening covering different caddis patterns that are always in my box, from larva to adults. Registration is $15 – come grab a beer and tie some flies! Limited to 15 participants.

March 1, 11-2pm – Blue-Winged Olive Life Cycle. TCO State College Manager George Costa will be leading this class of some of his favorite patterns for fishing the BWO hatch. This is another great opportunity to fill your boxes with some effective patterns for around here. Registration is $35, limited to 8 participants.

March 22, 11-2pm – Pre-Spawn Smallmouth Streamers. I’ll be leading this class on some great smallmouth patterns for fishing pre-spawn, and giving tips on how to effectively downsize and fish the patterns for summer. We’ll be doing a Swingin’ D, Crafty Leggy Boi/Nut Job (a great Brendan Ruch pattern), and more. Registration is $35, limited to 8 participants.

Hope to see you at one of these events – happy tying!
