It’s shaping up to be a sunny day here in central Pennsylvania! Get out and enjoy it, but before you do, check out this week’s selection of one article and three videos.
A Morning at the Orvis Rod Factory (The Fiberglass Manifesto)
Have you ever wanted to get a behind-the-scenes look at a fly rod factory? Cameron Mortenson had that opportunity the other week at the Orvis Rod Factory.
How to Make a Dubbing Loop (Orvis Fly Fishing)
This video is from a series called “One Minute Fly-Tying Tips and Techniques” by Tim Flagler. Dubbing loops are great for creating buggy-looking bodies on nymphs as well as making some cool streamer heads.
DeFank’s Wiggle Hex (Mark DeFrank)
This pattern can be adjusted to imitate the Eastern Green Drake nymph as well, which Jonas Price (owner of the Feathered Hook fly shop in Coburn, PA) has said is one of his favorite Green Drake nymph imitations. This could also work well for species other than trout.
Red Fox Squirrel Nymph (Frankenfly)
This video (posted on the Frankenfly page) is from the Guadalupe River chapter of Trout Unlimited. This is a tweak on the original Dave Whitlock pattern, and one that would work well for a variety of warmwater and coldwater species.
