Things Worth Reading: 6/23/2017

This Friday features four selections for you to enjoy. The topics include casting tips, fly tying, and Beaver Island, Michigan. Have at it!

Blasts from the Past: Adding a Modern Touch to Classic Fly Patterns (Flymen Fishing Company)

John Satkowski writes about some easy ways to update some classic streamer patterns (like the Mickey Finn and Black Ghost, among others). There are some pretty good pattern ideas that would be worth a try at the bench.

Master Class Monday: How to Improve Dry Fly Accuracy on Small Trout Streams (Orvis Fly Fishing)

The Master Class Monday videos that Orvis posts are really helpful tips for a wide variety of fishing situations, and this one is no exception.

Morlock’s Craw Bunny (The Fiberglass Manifesto)

This is a great crawfish pattern that Indigo Guide Service uses for carp and smallmouth bass on Beaver Island, Michigan. It’s a good-looking pattern that would probably work well around Central PA too! If you want to see a recipe list, check it out here.

Great Big Minnows (scumliner media)

Speaking of Indigo Guide Service, here’s a video with those guys guiding a crew on Beaver Island. This looks like it would be a ton of fun (and the music has a great groove – “Believe It” by Kung Fu Rodeo).
