From the Vise: September-Mid October

March is coming to a close, and it’s not going out like a lamb. After a month of cold, things have started to warm up over the past few days (“warm” being in the upper 40s and low 50s), but it’s going to get cold again this weekend. To kick off your Friday, here’s our selection for this week: 4 videos and an article. Pour yourself an extra cup of coffee and enjoy!
We’ve started out February portion of the Fly Tying Video Feature series, and have videos cued up for Mondays and Wednesdays throughout the month. We hope you’ve been enjoying the series so far!
Need a short morning break? Grab your coffee and check out this week’s “Things Worth Reading.” We have three articles and three videos covering a wide variety of topics, from fish spotting to striper flies and lots of things in between. Enjoy!
We wrap up our first FTVW with what I like to call “The Wild Bunch” – patterns that fall outside of the typical “trout fly” realm. (But patterns that are proven fish-catchers of trout and other species!) Spoiler alert: articulated streamers are here!
“Things Worth Reading” might be turning into a weekly thing – that’s going to be the goal, at least! This week we’ve compiled five articles and videos highlighting some different things ranging from artwork to split shot tactics to old school streamer fishing, and even have two tying videos in there too. Enjoy!
One shelf of books at the tying desk.
The winter months are prime time for hitting the vice and filling the fly boxes for the coming season.
